Pencil In These Events Happening In San Diego

19 Mar

There is nothing like the thrill of participating in a social event happening in vibrant San Diego. This year, the sun-kissed city will play host to numerous events. Why not pencil in these dates in your social calendar so you will be in San Diego when the fanfare and excitement are all in full blast.

Do you have a penchant for Latino movies? Then head over to UltraStar Cinemas at Mission Valley for the 18th Annual San Diego Latino Film Festival. From its beginnings as a student film festival sixteen years ago, the festival has evolved into one of the well-respected events within the Latin American community. It runs from March 10 to 20, and showcases works created by Latinos or with Latino themes.

Qualcomm Stadium will be the playing field for a Major League Soccer match between Venezuela and Mexico happening on March 29th. Book your tickets now for a chance to see the game.

From February until April 11th, Circus Vargas has a brand new show for their audience. Bring the whole family for an exciting big-top experience. The troupe is scheduled to perform on different locations throughout the season, so be sure to check their schedules for the show nearest your location.

Every day in March has a guided beer and food tour in celebration of Saint Patrick’s Day. Your guide is Shira — an Irish lass coincidentally born on the Saint’s feast day. The tour lasts for three hours where you will have the opportunity to sample local and crafted brews that perfectly complement the best of savory dishes that you can sample in La Jolla. If you are interested in this heady experience, the meeting place for like-minded individuals is at Empress Hotel at La Jolla Village.

Witness the ethereal beauty of cherry blossoms during the 5th Annual Cherry Blossom Festival. The event is hosted by the Japanese Friendship Garden, and will be held on March 19th from 10 am to 4 pm. Throughout the day you can sample tasty Japanese food and novelty items. The cultural demonstrations and the coronation of a new Miss Sakura (Cherry Blossom) are some of the day’s activities that the whole family can enjoy.

If you love guacamole, April 17th is a good day to honor the avocado. The Fallbrook Avocado Festival happening on this day invites avocado lovers to participate in a wide variety of activities celebrating their common love for the nutrient-rich fruit (or vegetable, whichever side of the categorical listing you are on). You’ll never go hungry on this day, as you can sample various avocado-based dishes. Enjoy live musical entertainment and witness cooking contests (or even participate in one).

San Diego offers numerous activities the whole year. Check the city’s official site for event schedules. There’s never a dull moment here.
